1. CANADA-ONTARIO ENVIRONMENTAL
SUSTAINABILITY ACCORD (COESA)
The Accord was signed on February 27, 1992. The overall purpose of the
Accord is to serve as an umbrella agreement between Canada and each province
under which all federal environmental sustainability programs are to be managed.
In Ontario programs currently being managed under the Canada-Ontario Accord
include the Canada-Ontario Land Management Assistance Program and Canada-Ontario
Green Plan for the Ontario agri-food sector.

2. CANADA-ONTARIO AGREEMENT ON THE AGRICULTURE COMPONENT OF THE GREEN PLAN
The Agreement was signed on September 21, 1992. The overall purpose of
the Agreement is to facilitate the implementation of a number of environmental
sustainability activates aimed at: Conserving and enhancing the natural resources
that agriculture uses and shares; minimizing the impact of the agri-food sector
on environmental resources required by non-agriculture sectors; and protecting
agriculture from the environmental impacts caused by other sectors and factors
external to agriculture.
The Agreement falls under the framework established by the Canada-Ontario
Environmental Sustainability Accord Respecting the Agri-Food Sector.
